解釋:OpenGL (Open Graphics Library) is a standard specification defining a cross-language, cross-platform API for writing applications that produce 2D and 3D computer graphics. The interface consists of over 250 different function calls which can be used to draw complex three-dimensional scenes from simple primitives. OpenGL was developed by Silicon Graphics Inc. (SGI) in 1992 and is widely used in CAD, virtual reality, scientific visualization, information visualization, and flight simulation.

解釋:Microsoft DirectX is a collection of application programming interfaces (APIs) for handling tasks related to multimedia, especially game programming and video, on Microsoft platforms. Originally, the names of these APIs all began with Direct, such as Direct3D, DirectDraw, DirectMusic, DirectPlay, DirectSound, and so forth. The name DirectX was coined as shorthand term for all of these APIs (the X standing in for the particular API names) and soon became the name of the collection. When Microsoft later set out to develop a gaming console, the X was used as the basis of the name Xbox to indicate that the console was based on DirectX technology. Ageia invented PhysX – a Physics Processing Unit chip capable of performing physics calculations much faster than general purpose CPUs; they also licensed out the PhysX SDK (formerly NovodeX SDK), a large physics middleware library for game production.


Ageia was noted as being the first company to develop hardware designed to offload calculation of video game physics from the CPU to a separate chip. Prior to this, solutions from ATI and Nvidia had not been planned nor announced. Soon after the Ageia implementation of their PhysX processor, Nvidia and ATI announced their own physics implementations.On February 4, 2008, Nvidia announced that it would acquire Ageia. NVIDIA 今日在台舉辦上市記者會,現場以《快打旋風 4》 等遊戲來展示 3D Vision 立體 3D 影像軟硬體解決方案,並結合最新 Samsung 與 ViewSonic 的 120 Hz 液晶螢幕、Mitsubishi DLPR 高畫質電視等硬體設施,民眾戴上電子偏光眼鏡後,可以看見清晰的立體 3D 遊戲、電影、圖片等畫面。現場同時播放眾多遊戲的 3D 立體影像,包括《魔獸世界:巫妖王之怒》、《Spore》、《靚影特務》、《快打旋風 4》等。

NVIDIA 業務總監郭文聰表示,台灣為此項產品在亞洲上市的第二個地區,目前可配合 NVIDIA 3D Vision 遊戲超過 350 款,且 3D 電影和越來越多對 3D 效果需求極高的網路應用,相信會讓立體 3D 影像市場有龐大商機的殺手級應用。玩家若是想要使用 NVIDIA 3D Vision,建議顯示卡配備要為 9600 GT 或以上規格。

NVIDIA 表示,整個 NVIDIA 3D Vision 套件包括一副 3D Vision 主動式電子偏光眼鏡、眼鏡袋、可調整鼻墊以及超細纖維清潔布;NVIDIA 3D Vision USB 控制器/IR 發射器; 客製化 VESA Stereo 至 2.5mm 立體音訊連接線;DVI 至 HDMI 連接線;USB 2.0 type A 至 5-pin mini-B 連接線;充電連接線;快速啟動指南;安裝 CD 片。建議零售價格為 6,990 元。現場同時展示 Fujifilm 推出支援立體 3D 影像拍攝的新款數位相機。
